The Apple iPad is a core technology which is tightly integrated into the Learning and Teaching experience at Wallace High School. Since we introduced it in 2011 it has become an invaluable tool for all staff and students. We highly recommend that every student has an iPad for daily use in school.
Here are 3 ways that you can acquire an Apple iPad for use in school:
Each year we open an online store with our supplier allowing parents to place an order for an iPad including 3 years of insurance against damage and extended warranty. The online store is open once per year in September for approximately 2 weeks to allow new students to get a device for use in school. You can purchase the package outright or take a credit agreement with our supplier Edutech Zone in partnership with Academia Ltd. The cost of this agreement will depend on your credit rating and may vary.
Edutech Zone Ltd. will deal with all purchase and finance queries as well as insurance and warranty claims so that you have a single point of contact for any iPad issues. Our IT staff will continue to support pupils who experience technical issues in school.
Purchasing your device through Edutech Zone is the preferred option as the device will come with internet filtering both in school and out of school already set up for you, as well as all the school settings for email etc. We can, at your request, also put the device into a more strict mode that will remove any non-educational apps during the week and only restore access to them at the weekends to aid with homework time, more details about this will be emailed in due course.

If you decide to purchase this way, we would recommend the new iPad (A16) 128GB or 256GB Wi-Fi only for use in school (https://www.apple.com/uk/shop/buy-ipad/ipad). We would also strongly recommend that you take AppleCare to cover the device for any warranty or damage issues that may arise.
Please note that AppleCare can be purchased as either a two year package or as a monthly payment. We recommend the monthly payment option as it will allow the cover to continue for longer than 2 years. This would be preferred if you plan to use the device for longer than 2 years and wish to maintain insurance cover.
If you purchase a device from Apple it will need to be wiped and placed into a special management mode by the IT Dept before it can be used in school similar to the BYOD option below.
If you wish your child to use their own iPad you already have then you must bring the device into school to be wiped by the IT Staff and placed into a special management mode. Any information on the device will be removed during this process so please copy off any data you wish to keep. Devices that are not placed into the special management mode will not be permitted in school.
If you are supplying your own device you do so at your own risk and we strongly recommend that you have an insurance provision in place for any damage that the device may sustain in school. The school will not be responsible for any damage or loss to your device. MendIT (https://www.mendit.com/) have been recommended to us by our suppliers for this purpose.
